'Captain America: Civil War' Cast News, Spoilers: 'Iron Man' Director Jon Favreau Has Nothing But Praise For 'Civil War'

Actor/director Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two "Iron Man" films, is in agreement with everyone who has given "Captain America: Civil War" positive reviews.

In an interview with IGN, Favreau said that as someone who was involved in establishing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he felt that the world of the Avengers is currently in good hands.

"As an audience member I was just smiling, and it's nice to smile your way through a film," he said. "The audience is in for a treat, and I didn't even see it finished so I'm sure it's gotten even better."

Favreau made special mention of Spider-Man, who is being played this time around by "In the Heart of the Sea" actor Tom Holland. Like many others who had been to early screenings of "Civil War," which hits theaters early next month, the "Iron Man" director said that Spidey was one of the best things about the film.

"I think Spider-Man made me smile every second the character was on the screen," Favreau said. "I was so pleased with the tone of the film in general, but those sequences specifically, and I just loved the way they introduced the character."

The "Chef" star and director also spoke about the version of Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey,Jr.) that he saw in the film, saying, "I thought that this was really impressive and a wonderful expansion of that character."

Speaking of "Iron Man," The Wrap says that while previous reports have indicated that "Iron Man" actress Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise her role as Pepper Potts in "Civil War," the character won't, in fact, be in the film.

In February, the news that Paltrow shot additional scenes for "Civil War" was widely circulated. Nevertheless, The Wrap says that while Paltrow has appeared in four different MCU films as Potts, she was never asked to return for the upcoming superhero assemblage.

"Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters May 6.
