Caroline Kennedy Selling Land for $45 Million
Caroline Kennedy has become the latest celebrity to be named in real estate news this week.
High-profile individuals are often spotlighted for their property choices, and the daughter of President John F. Kennedy is no exception.
Kennedy just listed two large parcels of land in Martha's Vineyard for the combined asking price of $45 million, reported The Boston Herald. Known as Lot 6 and Lot 7 in Red Gate Farm, both parcels offer waterfront land and "incredible" views.
"Simply magnificent is the only way to describe this pristine oceanfront parcel," reads the listing for Lot 6, which is on the market for $20 million. "Rolling dunes, Squibnocket Pond views, Atlantic Ocean views… a blank slate for your dream home."
Furthermore, the exclusive plot offers "plenty of privacy with varied topography and easy pond access," read the listing, according to the Daily Mail.
Adding to the intrigue of the properties, Kennedy would remain in the area. The former first daughter lives in the home that her mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, built after initially purchasing over 366 acres of the land in 1978. Lot 6 and Lot 7 are part of Onassis' original purchase.
Kennedy's home sits on about 106 acres, and the rest of the land was subdivided into six more lots- three for Caroline and her children, two for estate expenses and one preserved as open space, according to the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, many reports speculate that Kennedy is considering becoming the next American ambassador to serve in Japan.
As for the real estate news, the former first daughter is not the only celebrity to make property changes close to home this week.
Joaquin Phoenix has purchased a new home right next door to his current house, sparking rumors that the actor plans on building a large new compound.
The "Walk the Line" star just bought a 2,511-square-foot house right beside of his existing home in the Hollywood Hills for $1.3 million, according to Celebuzz.
