Carrie Underwood, Husband Mike Fisher on Preparing for Baby: Praying Everything Will Go Well
Carrie Underwood is anticipating the arrival of her first child, and according to her husband, Mike Fisher, the pair are praying that the delivery of their baby boy goes smoothly when the time comes.
The "Something in the Water" singer has been married to Fisher, a professional hockey player, since 2010, and the couple announced the pregnancy back in September. Shortly thereafter, during the Country Music Awards, it was revealed Underwood was expecting a baby boy. Today, Fisher says that he and Underwood are relying on God to take care of "the next little bit" ahead of the baby's arrival.
"She is having a good pregnancy," the Nashville Predators player told The Tennessean. "Everything has been going great so we're blessed that way and praying that everything will go well for the next little bit."
Fisher added that he think having a son will be "awesome," although the busy parents will have even more to balance when it comes to their demanding schedules.
"I've always tried to balance things out in life," the 34-year-old athlete explained to the paper. "I think that's important, and obviously kids are going to add a different dynamic that I can't wait for."
Consequently, the 34-year-old native hopes to be the ideal father to his son.
"I'm just thinking about wanting to be the best dad I can be," Fisher noted.
Underwood echoed her husband's sentiments on balancing hockey schedules and worldwide performances with family time in a past interview.
"Our live are so weird, you know," Underwood told CMT last year. "They're awesome, and we're so blessed, but we're coming and going and all that stuff, so we're definitely going to have to reevaluate everything and just make time, make room and make that a priority."
Fortunately, Underwood is getting help along the way to prepare for parenthood. The singer recently received advice from fellow country music star Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, who toured the country with a new baby on board last year.
"I told Carrie, 'Don't try to cater the noise thing to the baby because they'll sleep through it,'" Scott revealed of a conversation with Underwood, according to People. "I said, 'Let your dogs bark!' I know she loves her dogs, they are her babies too."
