Carrie Underwood Loses Voice, But Bolsters Christmas Spirit

Carrie Underwood has inspired goodwill and a giving spirit after cutting a show from her "Blown Away" tour short on Friday.

The country music superstar was forced to shorten her Des Moines show due to problems with her voice. Although Underwood managed a 90-minute performance, some songs were omitted from the setlist.

Ever-conscious Underwood explained to the crowd in Iowa that she had been plagued with guilt over what to do about having to shorten her performance, and that she planned to return money to the city.

"I feel really guilty about making any money on this show tonight," said the "Jesus Take The Wheel" singer, reported Yahoo News. "So whatever I'm making is just going to go right back into this community."

As the audience erupted in applause, Underwood added, "I feel that's the right thing to do."

Furthermore, in a video posted from the concert by a fan, the singer noted dismay with her presentation while sick.

"I'm giving everything a million percent, but I'm still only getting to about half of where I want to be, and I'm not used to that," Underwood explained in Des Moines.

It was after Underwood's Chicago show on Tuesday when the singer initially lost her voice.

"I've officially lost my voice," wrote the "Undo It" singer. "I guess my day off tomorrow will be spent at the doctor!"

Giving the money back to Des Moines was not the first time Underwood has displayed kindness. Just last month, the "American Idol" alum donated all proceeds from her Atlantic City show to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Furthermore, Underwood vowed to donate $1 to the American Red Cross for every ticket sold for the "Blown Away" tour this year.

In the past, the singer has donated proceeds from 2010's "Play On" tour to Save the Children. Underwood also signed a $35,000 check to her native Oklahoma town's schools.

Meanwhile, when not on tour, Underwood lives in Nashville, Tenn. with her husband Mike Fischer.
