Carrie Underwood: My Fiance Improved My Walk with God
Grammy-winning, country music superstar Carrie Underwood said she shares a deep Christian bond with her new fiancé, whom she credits for improving her faith.
"Mike has improved my walk with God," Underwood told People magazine in its latest issue. "It's important to me, because down the road, I want someone who will help shape our kids into people who make the world a better place."
The winner of the fourth season of "American Idol" became engaged to Canadian NFL hockey player Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators in December.

Underwood grew up on a farm in the small Oklahoma town of Checotah where she sang at the First Free Will Baptist Church.
In Spring 2005, she was declared the winner of "American Idol" season four. Later that year she released her debut album, "Some Hearts." The album's second single, "Jesus, Take the Wheel," received much airplay on both Christian and secular radio stations. The song earned the Gospel Music Association's award for best country single of the year.
Underwood also performed the song at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2006 and ended up winning the Best Single of the year for the song. She also won Best New Female Vocalist that year.
Her new fiancé, Fisher, commented about their shared Christian faith during the People magazine interview.
"Our spiritual bond is something we try to put first in our lives," Fisher said.
The couple plans to marry some time in the summer of 2010, but said they have not set a date yet. They also are still not sure if they will marry at First Free Will Baptist Church in Underwood's hometown.
Even after the wedding, Underwood said the couple will continue their long-distance relationship for awhile until someone retires. Fisher travels about half the year with the Ottawa Senators and Underwood is often traveling for concert events; she is about to begin a four-month, 54-city tour.
"Leave it to me to pick someone in another country to date – and marry!" she said. "But if it's worth it, you make it work, right?"
But on a more serious note she said, "Not being in the same room won't lessen our relationship."
"We completely have faith in each other," she said.
