Carrie Underwood 'Ready' for A Baby?

Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher are planning to have their first child this year, according to reports on Thursday. The Grammy Award-winning singer married Fisher, a hockey star, in 2010, and they are finally ready to become parents.

"During the holidays, they told friends and family that 2014 was going to be the year they had a baby," a source close to the couple revealed to Life & Style. "They're both finally ready now."

The insider went on to explain that Fisher and Underwood initially planned on getting pregnant last year, however, the couple likely put it off until Underwood's hectic schedule came to a close. The singer not only wrapped her "Blown Away" tour last year, but hosted the Country Music Awards and then performed in the live television event of "The Sound of Music."

In the past, Underwood explained why she and Fisher did not immediately start a family, and even shed light on her own personality.

"I don't feel old enough to have kids," she told Marie Claire last year. "I know I am mature. But being responsible for another human?"

Underwood cited her own experience growing as the youngest child in her family and her problems with being "selfish" and "closed."

"Technically, I have siblings, but they are quite a bit older than me- I was the accident- so I have the only-child syndrome going on," she said to the magazine. "I'm a little more selfish, a little more independent, a little closed. I do wish I were softer. I wish I were able to form relationships better. But hey, I mean … I'm not a sociopath."

Nevertheless, Underwood's co-star on "The Sound of Music Live" Sophia Anne said that Underwood would be an ideal mother, according to Life & Style.

"She was like a mom to us, we did feel like a real family," the 12-year-old actress said. "We always used to say all the kids were brothers and sisters and she was the mother of our family! She was so nurturing. If we had trouble, she would talk to us. She was always asking how we were doing and treated us like real people, not just little kids."

Furthermore, Sophia said "of course" Underwood would make a great mom someday.
