Carrie Underwood Shares Bible Verse Celebrating Easter
Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher celebrated Easter over the weekend with a verse from Scripture.
The couple, who just recently welcomed their first child, both shared a verse taken from John 11:25-26 on social media on Easter Sunday. Fisher, who initially shared a photo with a cross as well as Scripture, added "Happy Easter" in the caption.
"Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life," Fisher's quote from the Bible read. "He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me… will never die."
Later that day, Underwood reposted the Nashville Predators player's photo while also wishing her fans a happy holiday.
"#Repost @mfisher1212 with @repostapp Happy Easter," the singer wrote.
Underwood and Fisher's Easter celebrations took place just months after Underwood publicly vowed to observe holidays as a family with her first-born son, Isaiah. Although the Grammy Award-winning singer and her husband maintain hectic schedules, the pair decided to make holidays a priority with the arrival of Isaiah.
"Right now, my schedule and my husband's hockey schedule kind of dictate our holidays," Underwood explained to CMT last year while pregnant.
However, the "Something in the Water" singer called for change and promised to acknowledge the significance of family traditions in the future with her child.
"I told [Fisher] recently, 'You know, I'm really tired of skipping holidays. So from this moment on, I think it's just so important, no matter where we are or what we're doing, we have to make it special," the singer said. "And, I think that's going to be our tradition. I hope that my kids, later in life, are going to be like, 'Mom always tried to make that special even if we were someplace crazy or dad was off playing hockey or something like that. She made it special.'"
Meanwhile, Isaiah Michael Fisher, who was born on Feb. 27, is believed to have been named in reflection of Underwood and Fisher's Christian faith.
"Tiny hands and tiny feet… God has blessed us with an amazing gift," Underwood wrote at the time of the child's arrival.
