Casey Anthony Sued for Defamation (VIDEO)
Casey Anthony, who was found not-guilty for the murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, has been sued by the man who found the child’s dead body.
Roy Kronk filed the lawsuit, Wednesday, in Florida on the grounds that Anthony tried to put suspicion of her child’s death on him. The lawsuit claims that Anthony defamed him during her murder trial earlier this year.
Kronk testified that he found Caylee’s body in the woods near Anthony’s home and called police. He was never charged with Caylee’s death.
According to the suit, Kronk claims Anthony’s defense “variously accused him of involvement in Caylee’s death. He accuses Anthony’s lawyers of posing him as a “morally bankrupt” child snatcher, according to sources. They also accused Kronk of finding and keeping Caylee’s body in the woods and then placing the remains in the location where they were found.
Kronk, a former meter-reader, is also suing the National Enquirer newspaper and bounty hunter, Leonard Padilla for defamation, according to reports. The tabloid defends itself by saying they accurately reported Anthony’s attempt to blame Kronk and their reporting was based on court documents filed by her lawyers.
Padilla argues that anything he said about Kronk was opinion and related to a matter of public concern, according to court records. Padilla bailed Anthony out of jail prior to her trial.
Anthony is also being sued by the nonprofit group, Texas EquuSearch, for expenses they took on during a 5-month search for Caylee. Another suit was brought against Anhony by Zenaida Gonzalez. She claims that Anthony ruined her life by telling investigators Caylee was kidnapped by a nanny sharing the same name as Gonzalez.
One of Anthony’s lawyers filed a motion asking that Jeff Ashton, a prosecutor in Anthony’s case, be held in contempt of court for revealing details of Anthony’s psychiatric evaluations in his book, “Imperfect Justice”, according to sources.
Ashton, who retired after Anthony’s case, reportedly published details from the findings of two psychiatrists. The psychiatrists said Anthony claimed she had been molested by her father and it was he that had drowned Caylee.
