Casey Anthony's 'Mind' Examined in New Book by Psychiatrist
Bestselling author Keith Ablow, M.D. offers a psychological portrait of famed court case starlet Casey Anthony in his recently-released book, Inside the Mind of Casey Anthony.
An excerpt from the book, featured on MSNBC's "Today" book review, reveals that Casey's father, George, was suspicious of his daughter's inconsistent stories concerning her whereabouts and employment, yet neglected addressing them for fear of upsetting his wife, Cindy.
Ablow cites Cindy’s brother, Rick, as saying: "Cindy didn't want any negative news to come out of her house."
According to the book, Anthony lied about being employed at a Sports Authority Store in Westford Lakes, Fla., as well as being an event planner for Universal Studios.
According to Ablow, George said later he did not "wanted to upset my wife…that I'm trying to stay with."
"Covering up had become a habit for Cindy," affirmed Ablow.
The book examines Anthony's psyche, describing what led her to an alleged life of compulsive lying, including fraudulent check use and alleged defamation of strangers.
This is not the only book to be released post-Anthony murder trial.
One of Anthony's prosecutors who is now retired, Jeff Ashton, recently wrote a book entitled Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony.
"I've written a book to let people know the truth about the case from my perspective," Ashton previously told the Orlando Sentinel.
Ashton told NBC "Today’s” Matt Lauer that now that the trial is over, he wants people to "ignore" Casey Anthony.
Anthony became a national news sensation during her three-year court trial, in which she was accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.
Casey Anthony was found "not guilty" in July 2011.
The 25-year-old remains in hiding at an undisclosed location in Florida. She is currently on probation for an unrelated fraud check case, and is also undergoing a trial for the alleged defamation of Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.
She still owes the state of Florida $217,000 for investigation costs.
Casey Anthony has yet to address the public in an interview.
