'Castle' Season 8 News, Cast Spoilers: Is It Over for Rick and Kate?
Season 8 of "Castle" was expected to to be the time for "CasKett," the nickname given by fans to Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Kathic). However, things will not go as expected for the married couple as the lastest episode showed that the two may be headed for a breakup.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the breather that Kate had decided to impose on her relationship with Rick isn't supposed to be something that fans should worry about. Kate did this so that she can focus on her past demons that had caught up with her. Although this would be hard on Rick, he will eventually understand that he should give Kate the space she needs if he wants their relationship to remain on a steady ground.
Alexi Hawley, one of the showrunners of the show, took the chance to clear up Kate's decision, as he said, "She really just asked him [Castle] for time." Co-showrunner Terence Winter shares, "At the end of the day she's doing it out of love. She's doing it to protect Castle, not to see if she is interested in other people or thinking maybe they went too fast or he isn't what she wants anymore. Castle's definitely what she wants and she's willing to fight for it." Kate has definitely been feeling a lot of stress at the moment due to the ongoing secret investigation that she's doing involving the assisins who tried to take her life. This has been incredibly hard to keep from her husband.
Furthermore, Hawley and Winter wanted to confirm that no divorce will be happening. Rick will not give up any soon, and that this situation is merely an obstacle for the couple. Rick will be doing his best to try and break down Kate's walls. Winter reveals, "What we'll see in episode three is [Castle's] realized the way I can get my wife back is by doing the same thing he did when they fell in love the first time — work cases with her. He finds a way to worm his way into her cases." This happening will certainly give viewers the vibe of the duo back to where they first started.
