Catherine Zeta-Jones On Red Carpet Post-Separation

Catherine Zeta-Jones made her first red carpet appearance since her split from husband Michael Douglas was announced in late August.

The Hollywood couple separated after 13 years of marriage, announcing the split on Aug. 28.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, Zeta-Jones attended the launch of the $5 billion film studio in China's Shandong province.

The 43-year-old star appeared fresh-faced in a pale blue dress with orange floral patterns by designer Dennis Basso, according to People.com.

Sunday's event also served as the announcement of a film festival to be hosted in China by AMC Entertainment.

Alternately, while Zeta-Jones was in China's Shandong province, Douglas picked up the Primetime Emmy Award for his role in HBO's film "Behind the Candelabra" when he thanked the Welch actress.

Despite their separation, Zeta-Jones nor her husband has filed for a divorce.

"They're taking a break," a source close to the pair told People.com, while another explained "stress has taken a toll on their marriage."

It was later confirmed that Zeta-Jones and Douglas were "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."

Nevertheless, Douglas publicly thanked his estranged wife as well as the children they share during Sunday night's Emmy Awards.

"I want to thank my wife, Catherine, for her support; my kids, Dylan and Carys, and a shout-out to my oldest son, Cameron," said the actor.

In a recent interview, Douglas revealed utmost confidence that he and his wife would reconcile.

"Everybody is fine," said Douglas while speaking to Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell. "Nothing really more to say. We were just taking a little break. We're talking. I think everything will be fine, and I'm very hopeful."

It comes as no surprise that Zeta-Jones and Douglas were "taking a little break" since the actress previously admitted to needing "space" from her husband and describing a secluded place in their home.

"We spend a hell of a lot of time together, so we are careful to maintain our space," the actress explained to the U.K.'s Stella magazine before comparing the space to the time machine from the British program "Doctor Who."

"We recently had an extension built, to house a closet. It's like the Tardis- I go in there and never come out," she joked, according to the magazine.
