CBS new series 'Life in Pieces' new plot: A comedy unlike any other

It was reported that the new CBS series titled "Life in Pieces" will be a comedy following the story of a big family.

Reports show that Life in Pieces will be presented differently compared to other comedy shows. The creator of the show, Justin Alder, explained that an episode will contain four storylines that will connect in the end.

Alder explained that "Looney Tunes" inspired his vision for the show. He said, "I started thinking back to Looney Tunes...how it had independent multiple stories within a half hour. Why couldn't you do that with an extended family? That's how we all find ourselves up here now."

It was also mentioned that the show will have a consistent rule of continuation. As an example, they said that if a character receives a punch during a storyline, then a bruise will be present when they appear in another storyline. They aim to present the stories independently, though still making subtle connections that will be fun for viewers to experience.

The series will be filmed without a live audience, in order to maintain the authenticity of the actors and the transformations of their characters. Alder explained, "Once (the characters) were inhabited by the actors, they transformed into their own beings, and they have changed further once other show writers contributed their own experiences."

Life in Pieces will feature Josh Brolin as John the patriarch and Dianne West as the matriarch. Colin Hanks will portray the character Greg who is the youngest son, while Actress Zoe Lister-Jones will play his wife Jen. Thomas Sadoski will play the middle child named Matt, as Angelique Cabral will play Coleen, Matt's love interest in the series. Besty Brandt will be playing the eldest child named Heather. She already has her own three kids. Dan Bakkedahl will play her husband Tim.

Life in Pieces will premiere on Sept. 21
