CCM Artists Shine at LA Graham Crusade

Some of the biggest names in Contemporary Christian Music took part in what is said to have been the last U.S. West Coast crusade to be led by renowned evangelist Billy Graham. From Nov. 18-21, the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and the sounds of musical praises filled the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, drawing a total of about 312,500 to the four-day evangelistic crusade.

Nicole C. Mullen and MercyMe opened up the much-anticipated, four-day evangelistic crusade Thursday night with performances to a crowd of 45,000.

The following evening, the crowd quickly grew as 77,500 gathered to listen to Graham’s message on salvation, and music by Michael W. Smith and the Katinas.

On the third day of the Crusade, a special “Concert for Our Generation” began the evening, featuring musical groups Kutless, the Tait Band, and Third Day. The evening, which was geared much towards the youth, witnessed more than 3,800—most between the ages of 10 and 18—commit their lives to Jesus Christ at the day’s conclusion.

And on the final evening of the evangelistic crusade, an 80,000-strong crowd nearly filled the 92,000-seat stadium—the largest U.S. venue ever booked for a Graham crusade—as Jars of Clay and Marcos Witt led them in praise and worship.
