Tropical Storm Isaac Evacuations Move Celebrities to Call for Prayer
Tropical Storm Isaac is reportedly moving toward New Orleans on the seven-year anniversary of the city being struck by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Multiple celebrities and concerned citizens have decided to ban together on Twitter to call for prayer in preparation of the storm that prompted a large number of evacuations along the Gulf Coast on Monday.
Governors in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida have called for the evacuation of thousands of residents, labeling it a state of emergency. Although the National Hurricane Center reports that Hurricane Katrina was the costliest natural disaster in United States history after hitting the country with winds of 157 MPH, the Hurricane Center reported that Isaac was expected to have top winds around 90 miles per hour on Tuesday.
Multiple high-profile entertainers took to Twitter to call for prayers the day before the storm was expected to hit New Orleans and surrounding areas. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints quarterback, asked for God to protect those in the path of the storm while expressing his hope for their safety.

"Hope everyone in Nola and Gulf Coast gets to safety and hunkers down for Isaac," Brees tweeted on Monday. "Prepare as best you can. May God's protective hand be upon us."
Phaedra Parks, celebrity attorney and star of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," asked for her prayer partners to join in praying for the people expected to feel the impact of the tropical storm.
"#Prayer Partners please pray Hurricane Isaac misses New Orleans," Parks tweeted. "GOD cover and shield the entire city."
However, Parks was not the only reality television star to tweet about the expected tragedy. Tamar Braxton, singer and co-star of "Braxton Family Values," also took to her Twitter account to ask for prayer in the wake of a flood in Haiti, a high school shooting in Baltimore and reality television star Snooki giving birth.
"Haiti flood, New Orleans in danger, Perry Hall kids shooting @ school...AND SNOOKI is somebody's MAMA," Braxton tweeted on Monday. "What a weekend. IT'S PRAYING TIME!!"
Spike Lee, film director, producer and actor who created a documentary showcasing the lives of Hurricane Katrina victims, also took to his Twitter account to send prayers and blessings to the inhabitants of the Gulf Coast.
"Prayers And Blessings For The Good People Of New Orleans And Gulf Coast For Oncoming Hurricane," Lee tweeted. "BE SAFE.BE WELL. Peace And Love.God Bless You."
