Celine Dion Photo Shoot 'Goes Crazy,' Raises Eyebrows
Celine Dion's recent photo shoot for a travel magazine has critics and fans talking this week.
The iconic singer posed in unusual black-and-white photos taken for V magazine with the styling of Carlyne de Dudzeele. Some of the racy images reveal the "My Heart Will Go On" singer in formal wear, while others show more skin.
In another strange image from the high-fashion shoot, Dion dons suspenders with pants covered in stuffed animals.
The 44-year-old defended the images, claiming they revealed her true self.
"I'm like this in my real life," said Dion speaking to the magazine. "I was scared a little bit because this is so different for me, but I'm glad I did it. Usually there's always a reason when I do a photo shoot, there's not the opportunity to go crazy."
The French-Canadian songstress is internationally recognized for her music and currently lives at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace. The mother-of-three is the best-selling Canadian artist of all time and has sold over 200 million albums worldwide.
"I've been an open book all my life and I think that's why people like me," she added. "For me to tell someone that my husband (Rene Angelil) had cancer that we were struggling to have kids, or whatever we've gone through, talking about my life lets people know the real me."
Dion's success has not been without hardship. The singer married her husband, 26 years her senior, in 1994. After struggling with fertility, the couple welcomed their first son in 2001 and went on to have twin boys in 2010.
"I thought I had a life before, but until I was a mom, I had no idea," Dion told V magazine. "Why would I want a hit? Why would I want to win awards? There is nothing I can hope to wish for my career: I can just hope to be blessed as a mother for the rest of my life the way I am now. That's that only nomination I want."
When Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer, Dion halted her career. Fortunately, the music director made a full recovery.
Dion's images will appear in the magazine's upcoming travel issue on shelves next week.
