Celine Dion to Recover From Vocal Cord Damage by June
The timeless vocals of Canadian singer Celine Dion will soon be entertaining countless fans after she recovers from a vocal cord issue and claimed that she will return to the stage by the summer.
Celine Dion was suffering from inflammation of her vocal cords that was caused by a virus, and as a result, had to cancel more than 10 performances since February. Dion was performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The inflammation of her vocal cords was not deemed to be serious, but that the singer needed to rest in order to recuperate.
On her website, Dion talked about the problems she had been having with her vocal cords, but assured fans that she is on the mend and will be able to satisfy eager fans who come to the Colosseum starting on Saturday, June 9.
In a statement that was posted on her website, she thanked the fans who had been very understanding as well as supportive during her recovery and apologized for any inconvenience that she may had caused her fans.
"During this recovery period, so many fans, many of whom were inconvenienced by the cancelled shows, have posted kind words of encouragement on my website," wrote Dion.
Dion continued to express her gratitude: "I'm so grateful for their thoughts and their support....more than they'll ever know."
Professor Gerald Berke of the UCLA Medical Clinic, was the one in charge of monitoring her during her recovery. Berke explained that he prescribed Dion to rest her vocal cords and since then has overseen the strengthening of her voice and expects her to fully recover within four weeks.
Dion announced that she will start to work on her new French and English albums in April. Dion's next series of shows will run from June 9 through August 19.
