Chargers Vs. Falcons Live Stream: Watch Online NFL Sunday Football (4.05PM)
While both teams will head to the field unscathed, one team will have to leave with a mark as the Falcons take on the Chargers during Sunday's game.
To this point both teams have remained 2-0 in the season, but heading into week three, that will have to change for someone. Both teams have had impressive runs thus far. Monday night the Falcons held off the Broncos run, to win 27-21. The Chargers on the other hand, walked away from their Monday game against the Tennessee Titans without a dent, crushing their opponent with a game winning score of 38-10.
Running back Ryan Mathews has shown that he is determined to play in Sunday's game. He's been out since suffering a fractured clavicle on his first carry of the preseason opener, but has practiced hard leading up to the game and could be ready if his endurance prevails.
"I'm ready for anything," Mathews told reporters Friday according to USA Today. "Whether it's one carry or 20 carries, I've been ready to play since that (season-opening) Monday night game."
Chargers coach Nova Turner has show more skepticism, although he isn't ruling the running backer out just yet.
"He's practiced hard for three days," Turner said. "If he comes in here tomorrow sore, that's a factor. If he's all right, that questionable is a lot more positive."
Falcons running back Michael Turner could prove to be no match for Sunday's game. He scored a touchdown in Week 2 but only ran for 42 yards on 17 carries. Meanwhile, the Charger's have the best NFL rush defense in the league according to a Bleacher Report, especially if Mathews can pull through.
With that said, the odds are currently in favor with San Diego. To win, the Falcons will have to place a large focus on running the ball in order to force the secondary to pay attention. But their success at running the ball with two yards or less to go for a first down, is dismal at best. The Falcons have a 20 percent success rate, compared to the Chargers who have been successful 80 percent of the time.
