Charlie Sheen FX Show 'A Risky Decision'

FX network executives have not viewed a script or a pilot episode of the new Charlie Sheen sitcom, “Anger Management,” it plans to launch in June, in what many are calling a risky decision.

FX President John Landgraf told TV critics Sunday that he is willing to take the gamble because “I believe in redemption.”

He also added that “this is a different Charlie Sheen,” and denied that it was any sort of “publicity stunt.”

The FX network has committed itself to showing 10 episodes of the show starting in June, with the option of making 90 more if it proves a success.

The show is being based on the 2003 comedy movie of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. Sheen will play a man suffering in his career as he attempts to raise his 13-year-old daughter.

Landgraf has said, “This is the character Charlie ought to be playing now. He has a checkered past, but he is very self-aware and he wants to do more positive things in his life.”

Referring to the risk he and his network are taking on buying into the show without even seeing a script or pilot, he simply said, “Everything you do is a roll of the dice.”
