Charlotte Hornets vs. Detroit Pistons: Preview
The sixth-seeded Charlotte Hornets will be aiming to extend their winning streak as they face off against the number nine-ranked Detroit Pistons this week.
The said game is set to take place on Friday, March 25th, at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. Charlotte and Detroit have already gone against each other twice this season, and in both encounters, the Hornets have come out victorious.
The first game took place in December, with the Hornets hosting. At the time, Detroit was enjoying a four-game winning streak, only to be snapped by the surging Hornets with a final score of 104-84. It was a blowout game with the Hornets dominating through the majority of the contest.
Up by 11 by halftime, Charlotte never relented and extended the lead to 26 points late in the third period. What hurt Detroit further was when big man Andre Drummond was slapped with his fifth foul halfway in the third. Big man Cody Zeller was the Hornets' main man for the night, dropping 20 points, as well as six rebounds.
He also shot 5 out of 9 from the field, through 28 minutes of playing time. Jeremy Lin also contributed major numbers, adding in 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals, shooting 5 out of 10 from the field, through 26 minutes of playing time.
The second game last March 11 was another double-digit victory for the Hornets, who were once again hosting. It was a solid performance for the home team, who shot 54 percent from the field coming into the half.
Forward Marvin Wiliams was the night's top performer, scoring 22 points and six rebounds, shooting 7 out of 12 from the field, through 25 minutes of playing time. During the said game, Williams says it was all about putting on a solid performance for their home crowd.
"We knew it was going to be a big time game for us," Williams said. "We wanted to protect our home court and we came out and did that tonight."
The Hornets currently hold a record of 41-30, while the Pistons hold a record of 37-34.
