Chelsea Transfer News 2015: The Blues Are Looking to Improve Deal for John Stones

After a slow start to their English Premier League title defence, it seems that Chelsea are stepping up their bid in trying to convince Everton and John Stones to complete the move they've long been wanting.

The league champions have already played two games in the new season but have still yet to secure their first win – settling for a 2-2 draw against Swansea City at home in their first game before being embarrassed 3-0 against Manchester City in their most recent league appearance.

This has obviously resulted in the Blues conceding that they need new players to help them contend and they believe that Stones is still the missing piece in the defence that they need.

According to reports, the Stamford Bridge outfit is now ready to bid up to £30 million for Everton to agree to send over Stones. They previously had £20 million and £26 million offers rejected by the Goodison Park outfit and it is still widely expected that their new offer will still fail to land them the Englishman.

However, this new price will at least have Everton re-consider their options as it is a big amount for their defender.

Despite winning the title last year, the Blues have only made marginal additions this year, with new players like Radamel Falcao, Baba Rahman and Asmir Begovic coming in as replacements to those who have left the club. Furthermore, they have sent their younger players on loan which has left Chelsea lacking the depth they need to keep at par early this season.

It appears that Jose Mourinho is looking for younger players as he understands that his defensive stalwart John Terry will not be a force forever.

In their last game, it was the first time Terry was substituted out by Mourinho in 177 Premier League games. The Englishman was visibly frustrated by that fact but Mourinho wanted a higher defensive line so he chose to play Kurt Zouma.

While Terry is still confident that he will play in the next games, Chelsea are now adamant that adding fresh blood to the team is important if they want to remain in the race for the title.
