Chelsea vs Leicester City Game Preview, TV Info and Ticket Details: What to Expect in the Premier League 2016 Round 8 Matchup

The head-to-head matchup between the two teams favors Chelsea, but expect the defending champ to put up a show if they could get their championship form

The respective runs of Chelsea and Leicester City in the previous game of the Premier League took a completely different path. Leicester City completed its Cinderella run by taking home the title in what was regarded by many as one of the biggest upsets in league history. Chelsea, on the one hand, had a disappointing finish following a championship just the year before.

The two squads have yet to make big strides so far in the ongoing Premier League contests. They are set to face off one another for the round 8 of the competition on Oct.15 as they try to salvage their campaign.

Antonio Conte's group has yet to register another win in three tries after impressive three consecutive victories to open their Premier League bid. The drought includes a stinging back-to-back losses against Liverpool and Arsenal.

Leicester did not fare any better. The Foxes only managed to score two victories over six games. They suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Manchester United just a week ago. They are currently at the 12th spot of the standings.

Chelsea will Try to Break Out of a Slump

Going into round 7, Conte has a more realistic mindset regarding the current setback his team is dealing with. He said that Chelsea is, definitely, facing some challenges that started way back in the last season where they ended up on the 10th spot of the standings.

He emphasized the need for hard work and teamwork in order to close the gap and that there's no shortcut to overhaul the situation.

The Blues will have one tune-up to turn things around ahead of their showdown against Leicester City. On Oct. 1, they will test the mettle of the Hull squad at the KCOM Stadium. While Conte's group is a clear favorite here as they got the better of the head-to-head numbers, losing the match could only compound their woes and sink the team spirit further.

Leicester City is Also Hoping to Bounce Back

Before facing Chelsea, the Foxes will have to hurdle Southampton at King Power Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 2. The defending champs are hoping to get a win in order to climb out of the bottom half of the standings.

Leicester could get some much needed boost with the return of midfielder Nampalys Mendy from ankle injury, defender Marcin Wasilewski after suspension, and Danny Simpson who did not suit up against Porto.

The Foxes have had success in their home turf, going undefeated since 2015. But, they won't have that luxury as they try to pull-off an away win at Stamford Bridge. They were only able to score a goal in three away matches. Attackers Slimani and Vardi also need to double up on their scoring efforts in order to counter the prolific Chelsea attacker Diego Costa.

The head-to-head matchup between the two teams favors Chelsea, but expect the defending champ to put up a show if they could get their championship form.
