The score remained the same until the top of the fifth inning when Starlin Castro's double allowed Anthony Rizzo to run to home plate for the Cubs.
Still with some momentum, the Mets regained the lead in the same inning after Curtis Granderson's single gave Juan Lagares the chance at home to make it 2-1.

With Granderson at bat in the bottom of the seventh, he hit a sacrifice fly to allow Lagares to score his second of the game to make it 4-1.
A home run by Kyle Schwarber for the Cubs gave the final score 4-2, but a 1-0 series lead for the Mets.
In the next game, the Mets continued to beat Jake Arrieta's pitches as Granderson scored in the first inning before Murphy hit another home run to allow him and David Wright to score for a 3-0 lead.
Granderson scored again in the third inning after a Yoenis Cespedes hit to make it 4-0.
