'Chicago Fire' Season 6 Spoilers: Severide to Return to Stella Soon?

Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) will be spending a lot of quality time together in the current season of "Chicago Fire."

In the premiere, viewers saw Stella going to her ex-boyfriend when she was kicked out of her apartment. Severide gladly took her in, and it looked like romance could once again bloom between them.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Derek Haas said that it would probably take a while before Stella leaves the lieutenant's place. He also hinted that the forced proximity between the two characters could push Severide to see that Stella is the one for him. As for Brett's (Kara Killmer) friend, Hope (Eloise Mumford), who caught his eye in the premiere, speculations are rife that it will only be a brief fling.

"Stella is going to be around for a while in his apartment. The search for a new apartment is not quite going as quickly as she imagined it would be. But there are definitely feelings there, certainly feelings her way toward Severide, and over the course of the season, maybe she's the one who can live up to the archetype in his mind of who he's looking for," the EP teased.

Haas also mentioned that from Severide's POV, going back to his playboy ways was the best way to deal with his broken heart. His girlfriend passed away last season and he took it badly. Since he does not want to deal with more heartbreaks, Severide will try to protect his heart by not being emotionally attached to a woman, at least until he finds "the one."

Meanwhile, the episode revealed that everyone survived the deadly fire from last season's finale. Even Mouch (Christian Stolte) who had a heart attack, was alive. TV Guide reminded fans though that the showrunner had previously said that someone would soon be leaving the team. If not Mouch and Casey (Jesse Spencer), who could it be?

"Chicago Fire" season 6 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
