'Chicago Med' Season 2 Spoilers: Dr. Manning Makes Mistake That Could Lead to Outbreak of Rare Infection; Dr. Charles' Daughter Steps In to Help
The doctors face one if not the major medical crisis in the show's history.
Dr. Charles' (Oliver Platt) daughter will make her first appearance in "Chicago Med" Season 2. Robyn (Mekia Cox), an epidemiology specialist, will be forced to go to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center because of a rare infection that has affected several of their patients.
The same strain of infection
In "Brother's Keeper", the hospital discovers that some patients were suffering from the same illness. The official synopsis of the "Chicago Med" episode says that the patients have the same strain of a rare infection. Robyn will be enlisted to help find the link among the cases. Meanwhile, Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) helps a young drug addict overcome his addiction.
Also in the "Chicago Med" Season 2 episode, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) together with Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) will be working on a very ill elderly man. To make things more difficult, a conflict will arise between the man's young girlfriend and his son regarding the best treatment to be given to the man.
Doctors fear possible outbreak
The promo trailer for the episode of "Chicago Med" Season 2 shows the doctors as they fear that a possible outbreak which they do not know a cure for is threatening the lives of their patients. Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) comes forward and confesses that everything might be her fault due to a misdiagnosis.
A bigger problem will arise in the "Chicago Med" episode when the doctors find out that one of the patients who is suffering from the same infection may have already been discharged. There is now a possibility of an epidemic and the doctors may be facing one of the biggest if not the biggest crisis yet in the hospital.
Driven and an overachiever
In an interview, Mekia Cox talked about her character in "Chicago Med" Season 2. According to her, Robin is very driven and somewhat of an overachiever probably because of who her father is. She has to always prove herself being the daughter of Dr. Charles. Although being in Medicine has always been where she wanted to be since she was a little girl, she had to prove something outside of being her father's daughter.
Last week's episode
In the previous episode of "Chicago Med" Season 2, Dr. Rhodes went on performing a surgery on a very important patient who had a stroke and needed an emergency surgery. Dr. Rhodes' new mentor Dr. Latham told him not to do the surgery because it needed to be done within a certain time limit which he cannot do since he was observing his religious practice Shabbat.
Dr. Rhodes went in over his head and went ahead with the surgery. In the end, Dr. Latham had to step in to save the patient but had to go against his religious belief. In the same "Chicago Med" Season 2 episode, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) discovered that Maggie's (Marlyne Barrett) sister Denise has prostate cancer. Halstead later found out she has a prostate because she was born a man but transitioned to a female.
Episode 4 of "Chicago Med" Season 2 will air on October 13 on NBC.
