Chicago White Sox MLB Trade Rumors: Astros, Cardinals, Pirates, Yankees Still Interested in Jose Quintana
Jose Quintana has seen his name appear in several trade rumors in the past few weeks, but so far he hasn't been moved. Well, the rumor mill is still churning and Quintana is once again in the middle of it.
According to Bruce Levine of CBS Chicago, Quintana is still in high demand and the Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees are reportedly "dug into the sweepstakes" for the left-handed pitcher.
"It may not be headline news given that no trade has taken place yet, but the demand for White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana appears to be as robust as ever a couple weeks into spring training," Levine said in his report. "The White Sox's focus in a potential Quintana trade is the quality of prospects they get in return, not the quantity, sources said," he continued.

Well, it's clear the White Sox want to get as many quality prospects as they can as they continue to rebuild, but they are also not afraid to hold on to Quintana if they don't receive a good offer for the pitcher.
The White Sox managed to acquire elite-level prospects like Yoan Moncada, Reynaldo Lopez and Lucas Giolito in separate trades involving Chris Sale and Adam Eaton last December, so they probably wouldn't settle for less in a deal involving Quintana.
In fact, Quintana's trade value should be quite high because of his team-friendly contract and he's under team control for the next four seasons. He's due $14.35 million over the next two seasons, and his contract also has team options worth $10.5 million a season in 2019 and 2020. That's a very attractive contract. And don't forget, he's coming off an excellent season where he made the All-Star team for the first time in his career.
