Chicago White Sox in No Rush to Trade Jose Quintana

Jose Quintana is probably the Chicago White Sox's most valuable trade asset right now and his name has appeared in the rumor mill for months now. However, no club has succeeded in prying him away from the White Sox and it looks like he's going to start for the team when the season begins.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn has announced that Quintana would start on opening day following his stellar performance for Colombia in the World Baseball Classic.

With Chris Sale gone, he was the obvious choice. Quintana said he's going to focus on playing baseball as the trade rumors swirl and he could be wearing a White Sox uniform far longer than some might believe.

It's clear that the team isn't in a hurry to trade Quintana. In an interview with MLB.com last week, Hahn revealed that they weren't in a rush to make moves in the trade market. And while he did not mention Quintana by name, the pitcher was without a doubt the player with the highest trade value left on the roster.

"We've had conversations even this spring where if our asks were met, we'd make a move. Obviously nothing has developed as of yet," Hahn said during the interview.

"But that could well change early in the season or it could take to the Trade Deadline or into the next offseason. We would love to move this thing along based strictly on our desire, but it's too important we do it right than to force the issue based on impatience. We don't have specific time frames on any of these things," he continued.

For now, Quintana will continue to play for the White Sox. But pundits believe that he will be traded sooner or later once someone offers the right price for the pitcher. Sale and Adam Eaton are already gone, and Quintana may be the next to leave.
