Chris Bosh Slams Homosexuality Rumors: 'Why Are They All Messing With Me?'
Chris Bosh, the 30-year-old Miami Heat forward, is defending himself against false homosexuality rumors.
After Bosh joined the Heat in 2010, he came under scrutiny. Now, the five-time NBA All-Star is opening up about people spreading false rumors about him.
"That's the venom. For a while, they were questioning my sexuality," Bosh told ESPN. "They still do. They were questioning my sexuality, questioning my game. And I'm like, 'Why are they all messing with me?'"
He went on to question why people would spread false stories about him, insisting that he wanted to focus on his craft.
"I didn't do anything to anybody. I didn't do nothing," Bosh said. "I just came here to play basketball. And they're like, 'Oh, he's not a real superstar.' I never cared about being a superstar."
The basketball star went on to call the entire situation crazy, insisting that there was no way for him to please people.
"What am I supposed to do? You want me to have cornrows and tats on my neck and just punch somebody in the face when they score on me?" he asked. "It's crazy. It's impossible."
It seemed Bosh has come to grips with the situation.
"I can't do that and play," Bosh added. "That's never been who I am."
Bosh's teammate, Lebron James, recently spoke about his fair share of scrutiny. James, the 29-year-old Heat forward, is no stranger to this type of pressure after joining the NBA straight out of high school in 2003.
When he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Heat in a surprise move to join Bosh in 2010, James became even more heavily scrutinized. Now, he is not being surprised that he is a target for NBA fans and the media.
"I know I'm the easiest target that we have in sports, I'm aware of it," James told ESPN's Michael Wilbon on Friday. "I really am. I believe it."
