Chris Brown Back in Court for Rihanna Assault
Chris Brown's probation hearing was reportedly delayed for seven days to allow more time for authorities to perform an audit of the singer's community service following alleged suspicions that he may have cheated the system.
The 23-year-old was initially due to appear before Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg on Monday for the first time in more than a year. However, Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray of the Los Angeles District Attorney's office raised questions about Brown's community service hours in July 2012, which prompted the audit, according to reports.
Brown, who was convicted in the 2009 domestic assault against Rihanna, 24, was sentenced to five years of probation, one year of domestic violence counseling, and six months of community service. The "Turn Up The Music" singer was ordered to perform the community service in his home state of Virginia, and tasks included graffiti removal, roadside cleanup and other manual labor.
Brown, who is yet to respond to reports that he and Rihanna are back together, completed his court ordered domestic violence and anger management counseling. Murray, though, claims that there were no clear records to confirm that he completed the community service- special scrutiny was applied to the number of hours he allegedly performed and where exactly the work was completed, according to AP.
On Sept. 6, the R&B singer stunned fans at the Video Music Awards show in Los Angeles where he congratulated Rihanna with a public kiss after she won the award for Best Video Of The Year.
The couple dated for two years before breaking up in 2009 following the assault. They have since fueled reports of a reconciliation by recording a song together, kissing in public, and hanging out at the same locations.
In August, Rihanna spoke candidly about her 2-year relationship with Brown as well as its abrupt end following the assault. She admitted that they spend quality time together and revealed that Brown is "absolutely" the love of her life.
"I still love him. We're very, very close friends. We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will," Rihanna said in an interview with renowned talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
"I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love and I see that he loved me the same way. We were very young and very spontaneous. We ran free. We ran wild. We were falling in love going in at a really rapid pace and we forgot about ourselves as individuals," she added.
