Chris Brown Brings Rihanna to Court, Fans React

Chris Brown arrived in a Los Angeles court to face accusations that he was not being honest about community service hours and brought Rihanna along with him.

Brown, 23, was mandated to probation after physically assaulting on-and-off again girlfriend 24-year-old Rihanna in 2009. While both have made several public appearances with one another as of late and spoken up about working on their relationship, Rihanna made it clear that she was supporting Brown by showing up at his recent court appearance.

In a photograph that appears on ABC news, Rihanna was seated next to Brown's mother during court proceedings that took place Wednesday. Since Brown is serving probation for assaulting Rihanna, a number of people took to Twitter to express their shock after hearing that she sat front row to support her former assailant.

One person compared the pair to late singer Whitney Houston and her former lover Bobbi Brown who struggled with their relationship publicly.

"Like Whitney did Bobby," the person said, comparing Rihanna to the deceased singer. "How'd that turn out?"

Another individual criticized Rihanna's decision by tweeting, "stupid, stupid girl."

Still, others supported the singer's decision to support Brown after she showed up alongside his mother and her best friend, Melissa.

"The fact Rihanna, Momma Joyce & Melissa going to court with him shows what a tight bond they all [have] together," another tweet read.

Rihanna covers the February issue of Rolling Stone magazine and opened up about why she decided to give things another try with Brown.

"I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. To feel the consequences of that. But I got real with myself, and I just couldn't bury the way I felt," Rihanna told the publication. "I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that."

Still, the singer says that she is not afraid if her decision to reconcile with Brown turns out to be a mistake.

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," Rihanna told the publication. "After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."
