Chris Brown New Album 'X' Release Date September 2014; Tour to Promote Album Coming?

Chris Brown has announced that his new album, X, will be released on Sept.15. The highly-anticipated record sees collaborations from the singer's friends, including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Usher, Rick Ross, and Tyga. The album will serve as a follow-up to Brown's 2012 record, Fortune.

The R&B singer has enjoyed a lot of success with his single "Loyal," which he released in December 2013, and it can be recalled that he did a surprise performance of the song at the BET Awards last June. Fans of the singer have wondered why it took so long for Brown to release another album, given that "Loyal" was such a big hit.

A source told Hollywood Life that Brown wanted X to be perfect before the world hears it.

"The people behind him who are working on this are straight professionals who have been doing this before Chris was even born," the source said. "They know what they're doing and Chris is letting them do their jobs. That's what they get paid to do."

"Chris wants 'X' to not only be a bomb in terms of the content, but he wants to make a killing and sell well too," the insider added.

The website is also reporting that there will be a tour in conjunction with the album, and that it will allegedly start sometime this year.

In addition to announcing the release date, Brown took to Instagram to reveal the album artwork for X, which sees him shirtless and standing against a black background, with a red X slashed across the front.

Brown said to MTV.com that he hopes to take listeners on an emotional journey when they listen to his new songs.

"I want everyone to take a journey with me through 'X'. We're going to experience the highs and the lows, the love and the pain," said Brown.
