Chris Brown Turns Down Oprah Interview: 'I Never Wanna Be Attacked'
Chris Brown recently opened up about reasons why he would never conduct an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Brown, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter, has been under public scrutiny since physically assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Although Rihanna has gone on Winfrey's show to speak about her love for Brown, the latter said he refused to follow suit for the time being.
"I've been invited, I just say no at this point. I'll go to people that I'm comfortable with," Brown admitted on New York City radio station Hot 97 recently. "I never wanna be in a situation where I feel like I'm attacked or I'm gonna be trapped."
The singer said he has paid for his past mistakes publicly and is not sure if Winfrey will take a positive stance when interviewing him.
"I think I'm paying for whatever I've done and I've learnt from it and I'm moving forward, so I only want to surround myself with the people that are about positivity," Brown told Hot 97 DJ Angie Martinez.
However, Winfrey has insisted that she has no judgements about Rihanna and Brown reconciling.
"I think that if she is prepared to deal with that and is prepared to help him help himself then so be it. I have no judgement about it," Winfrey told Extra last year. "That's why I can sit there and have such a great time with her because I do all my interviews with no judgement whatsoever."
After interviewing Rihanna, Winfrey said she was ok with the decision that the young singers make in their lives.
"If that's how you choose to lead your life, that's really okay," Winfrey told Extra last year.
Although the media maven may not be interviewing Brown anytime soon, she admitted to loving the opportunity of interviewing Rihanna last year.
"You know what I loved about that interview is that she came with a big, wide open heart," Oprah told Extra last year.
