Christian Activists Played a Part in the People's Vote for 'The Passion'
The People's Choice for Gibson's film shows the public supports 'clean' and 'meaningful' movies
According to American Family Association's media relations director, "The Passion of the Christ" won the People's Choice award for best film drama due in part by the support of hundreds of thousands of Christian activists.
For the first time in its history, winners of the 31st Annual PCA were selected by the vote of the people via Internet. Among the American vote, over 400,000 American Family Association supporters across the nation voted for "The Passion," said Kathryn Hooks.
"I think it would be beneficial for Hollywood to take note of this award," said Hook. "These votes were cast by Americans across the country who just got online and registered their votes, and they voted for The Passion of the Christ." She said that this shows proof that consumers "will support clean movies with a meaningful message," reported Agape Press.
Mel Gibson's film went up against The Bourne Supremacy, Finding Neverland, Collateral, and Ray.
