Christian Actor Knows His Kids, Others Are Watching

One Christian actor says balancing career and family can be challenging -- and for that reason, he never accepts a job without a lot of time before the Lord in prayer.

Kirk Cameron is back as reporter Buck Williams in the Cloud Ten Pictures production, Left Behind II: Tribulation Force. Cameron spent several weeks in Toronto earlier this year shooting the movie. The actor, known throughout Hollywood as a committed Christian, says being a dad and an actor is not always easy.

"I'll be honest with you -- juggling a family, especially with five kids and a full-time career, is really challenging," Cameron says. "[A lot of work goes into being] a good actor ... and the demands on your time are a lot.

"We're working 14 to 16 hours a day, and sometimes it's during the day, sometimes it's during the night -- and that doesn't leave a lot of time to spend with your family and to be a good dad. Your kids need you to be there and to spend some time [with them]. So it's very challenging."

Cameron says it is important for him to choose roles that line up with his faith. "As an actor who's also a father, it's really important to me to do projects that I'm proud of [and that] ring with integrity," he says.

"I try really hard to be part of projects that tell a very interesting story from a unique point of view and that leave a positive influence on the people who watched it -- in their conversations that day, that week, or [an] impression that it even leaves on them for a lifetime."

Tribulation Force is the second in a series of movies based on the best selling book series by authors Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. Cameron's wife, Chelsea Noble, also stars in Tribulation Force and Left Behind: The Movie.
