Christian Bale Bails on Film Due to Busy Schedule?

Christian Bale has passed on the opportunity to star in "Child 44," although the actor has yet to provide his reasoning for the rejection.

The actor, 38, was offered an opportunity to star in "Child 44," a film directed by Daniel Espinosa through Scott Free Productions. The film is to based on a thriller book of the same name written by British writer Tom Rob Smith. It involves the investigation of gruesome child murders that were committed under Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union. It follows the crimes of Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.

On Tuesday, Bale met with the film's producers, according to The Wrap, and turned down the offer to star in the film. The actor, however, did not provide a public reason as to why he had rejected the role, though he does appear to have a loaded schedule.
