Christian Hip Hop Artist Recovering From Near Fatal Accident

One of Christian hip hop’s top performers recently posted an announcement on his website describing the events of a near fatal car accident.

Sivion, a staple in the Dallas hip hop scene, had been driving home from his day job on Valentine’s Day when he suddenly lost control after being cut off by a truck.

“As I saw myself heading directly for the support structure for an overpass, I just let go of the steering wheel and started screaming ‘JESUS!’” explained the singer on his website.

The car then flipped over, destroying most of the car.

“Every portion of the car was mangled except for the driver’s seat,” noted Sivion in the entry. “PRAISE GOD!”

The hip hopper was rushed to the local Parkland Hospital in Dallas where doctors found there to be no broken bones. They did find internal bleeding due to a ripped spleen, however, and began major surgery on his abdomen. Four days later, he was released to go home from the intensive care unit.

Fellow hip hop friends, Winona Drive, have come to help Sivion by posting a new single, “Father Time” on his MySpace site. They will sell the single for one dollar and have all proceeds go to the wreck victim.

Despite the situation, Sivion remains optimistic.

“I know that God is getting the glory through this situation,” he added, “and I can already see the provisions that He has in place for my safety and well being.”

Sivion received the “Best New Artist of 2005” for the Sphere of Hip Hop Awards last year, where he was also nominated for “Best Album Packaging” and “Producer of the Year.”

He is also part of the hip hop collective Deepspace5, which includes Beat Rabbi, Dust, Manwell?, Fred B, Listener, manCHILD, Playdough, Sintax, and Sev Statik.
