Christian Movie Reviewers Get Mainstream Exposure
Fox News began airing movie reviews from the Christian family organization Movieguide this week. The agreement was made on a seven-week trial ground.
The non-profit organization has been reviewing films for over 25 years. They have been highlighted mainly for their ability to critique on a deeper basis than the average reviewer. They not only look at the quality, negative and positive aspects of the movie, but also the culture messages being conveyed.
Movieguide is known to develop their evaluations "from a Christian perspective using high biblical standards.” They use the lens of the Bible to really assess a film accurately.
Their mission statement is: "To redeem the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media."
Founder and publisher of Movieguide, Dr. Ted Baehr said, "We are pleased to be placing our TV show on the Fox News Channel. This gives us another great opportunity to help make family life better, by helping parents make positive movie choices for their children and teenagers. We don't want people to pay a lot of money to get their family into a theater and then have to say, 'Uh-oh, what have I done?'"
