Christian Reformed World Relief Committee Launches Three-Pronged Response for Philippines Floods
The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) has been responding to the devastating floods in the Philippines that killed at least 1,000 people and left 250,000 homeless.
The series of storms, which began late November, triggered flash floods and landslides across the Island nation, and have affected at least 800,000 people. Reports from the field have indicated that the greatest need have been fro food, water and medicine.
Within the first week the floods slid in, several churches began carrying out needs assessments. Meanwhile, on Dec. 8, the CRWRC announced that it is planning a three-pronged relief response in collaboration with the National Diaconal Agency (NDA) of the Christian Reformed Church Philippines (CRCP).
John Suk, a CRWM missionary in Manila, asked Christians to please pray for the Philippines in light of the catastrophe.
Please pray for those mourning the loss of children and parents; for an end to corruption; for values of simplicity and contentment that would put less strain on our world's resources; for justice in a nation starved for it; and for God to use his children to help make things new-already now, Suk wrote.
