Christian Schools International, an organization serving Reformed Christian schools, has named a new President/CEO to carry on the vision of his predecessors in supporting Christian education throughout the world.

Dave Koetje, who has held the position of chief strategist for Grand Rapids Christian Schools in Michigan since 2004, will assume his new position beginning Oct. 31, succeeding Daniel Vander Ark, who has served since 1996.

As chief strategist, Koetje contributed greatly to the development of the schools, forming the 2,500- student school system and a web-based high school called Christian High Online. Prior to that, Koetje served as superintendent of Grand Rapids Christian Schools for 10 years.

Jim Marsh, President of CSI’s board, applauded the new President/CEO.

“Dave Koetje’s creative mind, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for Christian education will establish a fresh vision for the future,” said Marsh. “The CSI community looks forward to all that God has in store for our schools through Dave’s leadership.”

Koetje brings a wealth of experiences to his new position. In 1972, he served in administration at Des Plaines Christian Junior High in Illinois. He then became executive director of a Christian boys club, Calvinist Cadet Corps, in 1976. From 1983 to 1986, he served as principal of Calvin Christian School in Michigan and then as president of Oakdale Christian School from 1986 to 1993.

Koetje also plans to bring this vision and experience to serve CSI’s mission of advancing Christian education and providing support and resources for educators.

“God has used CSI in remarkable ways over the years,” said Koetje. “I am excited to explore how CSI can better serve our schools and families, building on the solid education foundation that has been established by people of commitment and vision.”

CSI currently serves about 500 schools and 105,000 students worldwide. Since its establishment in 1920, CSI has grown in the support and resources it provides, starting with textbooks and instructional materials to now supporting accreditation programs, insurance programs, and leadership development conferences for its members.
