ChristiaNet.com’s CEO Reveals Success Secrets for Using LinkedIn
William Cooper, the CEO of ChistianNet.com, a successful portal website dedicated to connecting users with the Gospel message and reputable business, recently provided business tips to users of LinkedIn.
Cooper is offering one Internet marketing tip per month to ChristiaNet.com readers and this time around, the advice pertains to social networking website, LinkedIn.
“The real focus on LinkedIn is most people don’t know how to use it,” said Cooper to The Christian Post.
Through the social networking platform, ChristiaNet.com was able to build over 7,000 business connections by using some simple strategies and avoiding foolish practices such as spamming keywords.
“You have to be very involved in LinkedIn,” Cooper said.
Most businesses log into their LinkedIn account once a week, but in order to make it work more effectively, a LinkedIn user must check in a daily basis, according to Cooper.
He also explained how profiles on the website should be made professionally including a picture, educational background, and recommendations from other businesses so that new clients can see them.
Keywords are also important for getting the most out of LinkedIn, but spamming keywords should be avoided.
Another tip by Cooper for doing well on the website is to provide connections with the right content.
“You have to have content that people want on your connections,” Cooper added.
If the content on a page does not appeal to connections then they will either delete the member or ignore their postings similar to what is done on Facebook when a users profile does not interest a friend on the website.
Interactions with connections on a regular basis are also an important thing to remember, according to Cooper.
ChristiaNet also takes advantage of other social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter. It currently has 650,000 friends on Facebook and 4,000 followers on Twitter.
Its Facebook account is mostly used for evangelism and providing visitors and friends with original Christian content taken from ChristiaNet.com’s 23,000-page inventory of Biblical resources such as scripture quizzes and faith based articles.
“Our goal is to get the million mark on Facebook in the next year,” he said. The website's LinkedIn and Twitter accounts are mostly used for business purposes.
Building a solid reputation on social networking platforms involves sticking to the rules, according to Cooper. The companies based on their desire to optimize the in-user experience are constantly changing rules for these sites.
Staying within the boundaries helps users of these websites to not be kicked off.
“Things change over time and if they change against you it’s not a good place to be,” Cooper said. He explained how companies could be doing perfectly well one day, and the next go out of business due to a lawsuit.
