Christians Called to Join International Day of Prayer, Nov. 16

Christian agencies in the U.K. called upon all Christians to join in an international prayer event on and in the week of November 16. Dubbed, “International Day of Prayer,” Christians around the world are encouraged to unite in one heart and voice to pray for the increasing number of persecuted Christians.

“If millions of Christians were suffering and being persecuted across the globe we would pray. They are and we must. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is our chance to stand and call on God for our brothers and sisters,” said Steve Chalke, Founder of Oasis trust and Faithworks.

Agencies in support of the IDOP include Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Jubilee Campaign, Open Doors and Release International.

“Persecution is the painful reality for many of our brothers and sisters throughout the world, and it is vital we support them in the most powerful way possible – through prayer. I encourage you to join in this important opportunity to pray for the Persecuted Church,” said Reverend David Coffey, President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the other persecuted Church agencies to encourage UK Christians to pray. It’s vital that more and more churches and individual Christians begin to realize they are part of a worldwide family, millions of whom are persecuted for their faith,” said Mervyn Thomas, Chief Executive of CSW.

“Our vision is that the IDOP becomes a key date in the UK Church’s calendar every year.”
