Christina Aguilera Returning to 'The Voice' Season 5, Could Get $17 Million Salary
After a season away from the popular signing competition "The Voice," Christina Aguilera is set to return for the show's fifth season.
Aguilera's judge's chair has been occupied by Shakira after the singer was using the time off to promote her newly completed album Lotus. The show has just entered the live round part of the competition.
Reports have claimed that Aguilera's salary for season five could be in the $12 million range. Some reports have that number as high as $17 million, which is just under the $18 million Mariah Carey reportedly earned for her one season as a judge on "American Idol," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fellow Voice judge Cee Lo Green was also absent this season as he was focusing his efforts in producing and promoting his new show called "Loberace Las Vegas." There are rumors that executives at NBC are currently in talks with the entertainer to have him come back as well for season five. Green was replaced by Usher for this season.
Fellow judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are expected to be back for season five as well. Network executives stated that they understood high-profile entertainers have other professional commitments and that they are prepared for judges to leave the show periodically from time to time.
A spokesperson for NBC could not be reached for comment. Network representatives did not discuss the judges during their upfront presentation to advertisers for the upcoming 2014 season on Monday in New York.
