Christine O'Donnell Releases 'Troublemaker' Book
Former Republican Christine O’Donnell has released her new book “Troublemaker: Let’s Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again” on Tuesday. The memoir covers the Tea Party-backed former candidate’s childhood, why she became a conservative political activist, and admissions of errors in her own decision-making.
The conservative activist is best known for advocating abstinence, and became a national figure during the U.S. Senate elections last year. After defeating the heavily favored GOP candidate in Delaware’s primary election, her popularity failed to deliver her the general election.
The Delaware Republican writes that she was blindsided when a clip of her saying, “I dabbled into witch craft,” hit media outlets.

The scandal took hold of the nation, and O’Donnell became the subject of ridicule on “Saturday Night Live.” Along with questions about her finances and educational qualifications, her already troubled campaign sank entirely.
O’Donnell admits in “Troublemaker” that her infamous “I am not a witch” campaign commercial was a complete failure, and wrote that it was “my lowest moment of the 2010 campaign.”
The political ad produced to refute the “witch” clip was a move O’Donnell was urged to make by media consultant Fred Davis. Her book indicates that the commercial leaked and was posted on the internet before she could approve the message.
In the ad, O’Donnell is taped saying, “I am not a witch, I’m nothing you’ve heard, I’m you.”
“I hated the ad, I never liked it,” she says in “Troublemaker.”
“That is my mistake. It was a wrong-headed move, made for all the wrong reasons, but it was mine.”
The consultant who advised O’Donnell, Davis, told the Associated Press, “I wish her well with her book, and her future, that was a very unusual campaign,” in response to her book’s allegations.
O’Donnell’s memoir also includes opinions about what is ailing America as well as criticisms of adversaries who tried undermining her campaign.
“I greatly admire President Bush as a leader with courage to defend his country and stand for his convictions… most of the time. But liberal influences within his own administration, led at time by Karl Rove, severely tarnished Bush’s legacy among true Constitutionalists,” O’Donnell writes.
“Troublemaker: Let’s Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again” is available at book stores and online on sale.
