Christmas in Washington
The Christmas spirit and holiday cheer was at its peak in Washington, Sunday, as the First family joined big-name performers for a holiday pageant at the National Building Museum. Entitled, Christmas in Washington, the holiday tradition running on its 23rd year benefits the Childrens National Medical Center in the nations capital.
During his address, President Bush paid tribute to the many service men far away from home during the holiday season.
"These families and the troops they love can be certain that they have the support and gratitude of our nation, he said, according to the Associated Press.
Bush also made the usual remarks on peace and goodwill that comes to all people on Christmastime.
"We continue to seek the promise of peace on earth and goodwill toward men," Bush said.
The Christmas in Washington concert, which this year was hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife Robin, also featured country singer LeAnn Rimes, pop singers Michael McDonald, Vanessa Williams and JoJo, the American Family Choir, the U.S. Army Band Herald Trumpets and Ian Fraser and the "Christmas in Washington" orchestra.
