Christopher Dorner Dead After Fiery Shootout? Charred Remains Found in Cabin
Christopher Dorner's reign of terror and revenge may be over after a shootout with police. A body was recovered from the scene of a burned-out cabin after an intense shootout, and police believe the body to be that of Dorner.
"Identification will be attempted through forensic means. Investigators have located charred human remains within the debris of the burned out cabin," a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner stated.
The final shootout began when police received a report of a stolen vehicle; the victim gave a description of the thief, which matched Dorner. The victim and his wife were found tied up and said they had been held hostage before Dorner took off with their truck.

They found the vehicle just a little while later, and the suspect took off on foot and locked himself inside the cabin. A firefight ensued, leaving two sheriff's deputies wounded.
One later died of his injuries at the hospital. Dorner then allegedly moved to a different cabin, which somehow caught fire. Authorities are still investigating how the fire started. Gunfire could be heard going off in the cabin, which officials say could have been ammunition exploding.
If Dorner is in fact dead, it may come as a relief for members of the Los Angeles Police Department, who had been targets of Dorner's ire and plan for revenge. He is believed to have killed Monica Quan, a former LAPD captain's daughter, and her fiance, Keith Lawrence as well as Michael Crain. Dorner was also wanted for the attempted murder of five officers.
Dorner posted a manifesto explaining his rage at the LAPD and the reason he was targeting certain groups of people including "those Caucasian officers who join South Bureau divisions"; "black officers in supervisory ranks and pay grades who stay in south bureau"; "Hispanic officers" and "lesbian officers in supervising positions."
"The violence of action will be HIGH. I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty. This was a necessary evil," Dorner noted before thanking those who had an impact on his life. He was upset about being fired some time ago and wanted to execute his own "justice."
Dorner also noted that he wanted his brain to be examined for signs of trauma and "the effects of severe depression." Dorner was 33 years old and, if he is still alive and taken into custody, will be eligible for the death penalty.
