Christopher Meloni and 'Law & Order SVU' Reunion: 'I'm Always Willing to Consider'

While still settling in to his new role on "True Blood," Christopher Meloni has stated that the despite his departure from "Law & Order: SVU," he would still be willing to do a reunion.

After 12 long seasons of playing Detective Stabler alongside Mariska Hargitay, Meloni backed out of his SVU role in 2011, saying that the time had come.

"I never dreamed that I would stick with something for so long. I enjoyed it so much. But it was time. I had been thinking about it for a while," Meloni told The Vulture after his departure.

"From Season 4 to 9, it was really crazy," Meloni had admitted adding that, "Five years. It was miserable."

Looking for a different scene, Meloni then moved on to a role in "True Blood" playing Roman, the 500-year-old founder and leader of the Vampire Authority.

"I don't think you could go farther afield from 'SVU' than joining the world of Bon Temps and the whole 'True Blood' werewolves, werepanthers, faeries and vampires running around," Meloni told TV Guide last year. Now however, he admitted new details to the publication, stating that he would still be open to doing another episode of SVU.

"I'm always willing to consider. I had 12 great years on the show. I loved the people and I loved that character," the 51-year-old actor told TV Guide at Saturday's Comic Con. It sounds like the actor has had a nice break away from it all.

Playing his partner, Olivia, Hargitay also paid the price for Meloni's departure. She continued on into season 13 of SVU for the first few initial episodes before her character was handed a promotion, which left the actress with a backseat role on the series. SVU was renewed for a 14th season in May.
