The Church must provide guidance to politicians, civil society and the community on issues of national concern, said the Zambia Vice-President according to a local news agency. Lupando Mwape, who opened a choral concert Friday, said the Church must guide society by reflecting positive developments in society as well as preaching the reconciliation of the people in order to foster national development.
According to the Lusaka-based Post, Mwape said Friday that in guiding the nation, the Church must preach, reflect and provide direction to society based on the biblical principles of love, peace and freedom.
The Vice-President said occasions like the choral concert that was held in commemoration of the Independence Day should also be used to seek the wisdom of founding fathers that based their struggle on equality for all.

"The role of the Church in guiding and counseling the leadership and the people must be reflected in our music, poetry and lyrics of such happy moments," he said.
Mwape urged musicians to sing and guide the country on the importance of abstinence and moral behavior in order to prevent HIV/AIDS and other related health, social and cultural issues.
He further stated that the government had noticed that Christian music was currently experiencing a boom and was contributing to the creation of employment and the development of the music industry.
