Church of England Chooses Advisor for National Missions and Evangelism.
The Rev Paul Bayes was appointed as the National Mission and Evangelism Adviser to the Archbishops’ Council for the Church of England, Oct. 21.
As the NMEA, Bayes will have two main roles: to help equip the Church in evangelizing and to assist the missionary development of both parish congregations and fresh expressions of Church.
“I am delighted and excited at the prospect of supporting and encouraging the creative proclamation of the Gospel in our Church of England,” said Bayes. “It will be a privilege to build on the excellent work done by my predecessors in this post.

“A particular focus of this job will be seeking to enable local congregations for mission through fresh expressions of Church. I’m very much looking forward to following up on that work and helping to take it forward.”
Bayes, who served as a Team Vicar and Team Rector of High Wycombe, is currently serving as the Area Dean of Lyndhurst. He was also Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth College and Chelsea College.
Bayes will be succeeding the Canon Robert Freeman, who took up the post as Archdeacon of Halifax in September. Bayes will serve his NMEA term beginning January 2004.
