Churches Adopting Hip-Hop Culture
In a report earlier this week that featured the headline "Rappers Are Raising Their Churches' Roofs," "The New York Times" observed that hip-hop culture and the church are coming closer together after many years of antagonism.
The current trend indicates that Christian churches and ministries are adopting hip-hop culture to spread the gospel.
For example, Adam Durson, youth pastor at Christ Tabernacle Church in Queens, has mixed guest rappers and videos with preaching in his Friday services. The results are part revival meeting, part Friday night out at Christ Tabernacle, which is loosely affiliated with the Assemblies of God.

"In today's terms, the apostle Paul would be living in the projects saying, 'Grace and peace to you, a'ight,' instead of 'amen,'" Durso said. "Don't get stuck on the word 'amen.' 'Amen' just meant 'I agree.' Well so does 'a'ight' to this hip-hop culture."
