Churches are calling for peace in the west African nation of Togo following violent post-election clashes between government and opposition supporters which have killed approximately 100 people.

The April 24 presidential election followed 38 years of rule under President Gnassingbe Eyadema.

Opposition supporters have vehemently disputed the election results that gave the presidency to the former president
