Churches Threaten Legal Action Against Violators of Peace Agreement
The Liberian Council of Churches(LCC) say those who continue to commit atrocities against the Liberian people, or crimes against humanity would face the weight of the law, stressing that "enough is enough."
In a release Tuesday, the LCC said it has observed that the peace agreement signed in Accra, is the last opportunity to transform Liberia to a new Nation in which the rule of law, human rights, good governance, transparency and accountability are respected.
Therefore, the Council has called upon everyone to stand up for a new Liberia, and to vehemently condemn all atrocities in the society.

The LCC said it has commenced a daily monitoring of the prevailing situation in the Country, and would not hesitate to initiate action to prosecute individuals or groups who continue to disregard the peace agreement or continue to commit atrocities.
"We shall fear no man but only God", the release signed by LCC's General Secretary, Benjamin D. Lartey stressed.
Notwithstanding, the LCC has said it is gravely concerned about reports of fighting in Grand Bassa, Bong and Nimba Counties and in other areas of Liberia.
In another development, a LCC delegation headed by Bishop Sumoward Harris is expected to leave today for Cameroun to attend the 8th General Assembly of the All-Africa Conference of Churches(AACC), which runs from November 22-27, 2003.
Other delegates expected at the conference would come from the United Methodist, Episcopal, and Lutheran churches all of whom are members of the LCC.
